Rogers Wireless was reported quite a while ago to be planning on releasing to the market the first two mobile phones in the world to run under Google's Android operating system, the HTC Dream and HTC Magic. On that note, John Boynton, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for the company, has announced today that the handsets are now available for purchase in the country via the carrier's stores.

The two Android mobile phones, the first ones to even get to Canada, are meant to fulfill the needs of any web-savvy consumer, while also featuring integration with a wide range of Google leading mobile services, such as Google Search, Google Maps, and Gmail. In addition, the handsets are available on the company's 3.5G HSPA network, which can offer download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, delivering the best experience while on the go.

“The revolution is here – with Rogers being the first and only wireless carrier to bring the Android experience to Canada,” Boynton said. “We are thrilled to deliver on Canadians' increasing desire for a revolutionary mobile web experience, by adding the innovative HTC Dream and HTC Magic to our line-up of 3.5G handsets.”

The two Android-based mobile phones, the HTC Dream and HTC Magic, will also be able to provide Canadian users with access to the Android Market, which features more than 3,200 different apps that are available for download, while more are added to the portal each and every day.

The mobile phone carrier also announced that the two handsets could be purchased all around the country for a price tag of $149.99 on a three-year voice and data plan that starts at a minimum monthly service fee of $45. In addition, the company is also offering a $30/6GB data plan for these devices until July 1. More information on Rogers Wireless' services for the new Android handsets can be found on its website.
