Might have been delayed due to faulty software

Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced at the beginning of October the official launch of its high-end Windows Mobile-based HTC HD2 device, but only delivered the handset to the market this week. Originally, the phone was said to arrive on shelves before the end of October, yet it seems that it has been pushed back due to faulty software.

HTC announced the availability of the HD2 at the beginning of November, and said that Europe would receive it first, plus that the device is also slated for release in Asia before year's end, as well as in the US, in the beginning of 2010. According to a recent post on mobiletechworld, the phone might have come earlier to the market, at least in Europe, but some software issues delayed the release. The guys over at Solopalmari installed the Italian ROM on HD2 and observed that the performance of the device has a lot to suffer.

As HTC reveals, this is not the final form of the Italian ROM, “The firmware is currently in possession of blogs and newspapers, initially taken for short, is rather to be considered very tentative. HTC notify its users and journalists when the final release of the Italian ROM will be ready.” However, this indeed confirms that there have been some software problems, and also explains why Expansys France delayed the device until November 28.

However, the new Windows Mobile 6.5-powered mobile phone is already available for purchase in Europe, and users in the UK can snag this beauty from Vodafone for free, upon the signing of a contract for a certain monthly plan, of course. The good news is that the HTC HD2 is here and, in case you might have missed some of the previously available videos with the phone, there is also a clip available with the unboxing process.

And that is not all. The guys over at pocketnow also delivered a first-time setup video with this phone, which, one should agree, is more than appealing. The HTC HD2 comes with a large touchscreen display, with a powerful 1GHz processor inside, 448MB of RAM, a lot of storage space, and the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system and access to the related services.
