The new Elder Scrolls video game was only announced in late December of 2010 at the VGAs and the developers working at Bethesda have already offered some pretty interesting information about the game and about the changes coming to the series.

Game Informer mentions that there are five massive cities set in Skyrim that the player will get to visit and that under and between them there's an extensive network of caves and artificially created underground areas that can also be explored.

The complaints about lifeless conversations that have appeared after the Oblivion launch and have persisted when Fallout 3 and New Vegas rolled around have been addressed, with characters walking around while talking and only occasionally actually looking at the player.

The combat system is evolved and allows dual wielding that is not limited to a class (the game actually does not have any) and gives the player the opportunity to mix and match all items and weapons he wants, with one hand possibly directing attacks with a sword, while the other is prepared to unleash magic from a wand when the time is right.

The fighting will also be enhanced by the addition of finishing moves, which each weapon will have and will be different depending on the type of enemy fought.

More dynamic missions development is included in Skyrim, with the engine apparently able to create side quests by seeing how the gamer has played up to a point, which spaces he has explored and what enemies he has fought, combining all that's needed to throw another challenge at him.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim takes place in the frozen North and deals with an ancient god and dragons that, predictably, are ready to destroy the world with only the player able to stop them.

The game was announced as arriving on November 11 of this year on home consoles and on the PC.
