Bethesda has announced that it was working on a new The Elder Scrolls video games, to be released later this year, and one of the main fears that veterans of the series had about the game was that the developers would keep the same enemy leveling system which was widely denounced for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and changed by most of the important mods released for their game.

The developers have apparently listened to the feedback coming from the loyal Elder Scrolls playing community and will be employing a newly designed leveling system for enemies.

One of the official community managers for Bethesda wrote on the official forums that, “Since people are asking, wanted to briefly touch on level scaling. All our games have had some amount of randomness/leveling based on player level. Skyrim’s is similar to Fallout 3’s, not Oblivion’s.”

In Fallout 3 enemies scaled with the level of the player character, so that they could offer a challenge as the game progressed and the player exponentially grew in power, but the developers were careful to set ranges for the various creatures, so that gamers would not end up fighting superpowered mole rats when they reached the level cap at 30.

The new Elder Scrolls video game is set to take the action to the far North of the game world, with snow being one of the main geographical features.

Dragons are set to be important to the story, which will involve the god Alduin and his assault on the world.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is set to be delivered on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on November 11 of this year.

More information on the game will be delivered at E3 and other trade shows with Bethesda saying that this will be the biggest release in the series.
