It appears that the Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion might indeed release in the near future a new device that sports only a touchscreen display, dubbed BlackBerry Storm 3, which has just made an appearance on Verizon Wireless' internal systems.

The new mobile phone should follow the launch of two other similar handsets from RIM, namely Storm and Storm 2, though it is expected to come with some more enhancements, along with better hardware specs and the like.

BlackBerry Storm 3 should arrive on shelves with the new BlackBerry 6 OS on board, and rumor has it that it would be released before the end of the ongoing year.

Previous rumors on it suggested that we might see it released in early 2011 with LTE connectivity options inside, but it appears that it would arrive sooner than that, without the 4G capabilities.

However, this handset should prove a true successor of the previous Storm handsets on RIM's offering, and not a minor update.

According to a recent article on phone Arena, the BlackBerry Storm 3 was spotted recently on Verizon's internal system with the model number 9570 attached to it.

The screenshot attached to this article supposedly shows the device in Cellbrite, the internal system that Verizon Wireless service technicians use for transferring information between phones.

According to the news site, this would come as a confirmation of the fact that Verizon plans on having the new mobile phone launched on its airwaves sometime in November.

Of course, it still remains to be seen what hardware specifications the new device would sport when launched on shelves, especially after RIM released the touchscreen slider Torch not too long ago.

If rumors are to be believed, RIM might come up with the touchscreen-enabled BlackBerry device that should have been launched a few years ago, though it still remains to be seen if any of this would actually pan out.
