Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion was expected to bring to the market a new touchscreen device it the already popular Storm family, namely the BlackBerry Storm 3, and a few more details on the handset have just emerged. It seems that the third Storm from RIM should arrive on shelves with the same design as the previous two touchscreen handsets, though it would bring a nice range of enhancements under the hood.

According to the guys over at Engadget, the upcoming touchscreen device from RIM should pack hardware improvements meant to fit the needs of the already unveiled BlackBerry 6 operating system. For example, the upcoming mobile phone would include 512 MB of RAM, which is twice the RAM present on Storm 2, along with enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity with 802.11n (RIM debuted this standard in the recently launched Pearl 3G). Moreover, we should expect for the BlackBerry Storm 3 to boast a 5 megapixel photo snapper, and for it to be a world phone.

The BlackBerry 6 OS should also come in with a nice range of enhancements. Among the most important ones, we can mention a new WebKit browser, one meant to deliver one of the best mobile browsing experiences out there. Storm 3 with BlackBerry 6 should include 3G mobile hotspot features soon after launch, along with a refreshed user interface, and other additional features, including a 1GHz processor.

Previous reports on the device suggested we might see support for LTE networks included into the mix but, in case the device lands before the end of the ongoing year (the last line in the slide shows that it might come sometime in the September-December time frame), chances are that an 3G connectivity would be packed in it. Verizon Wireless would certainly be one of the carriers to add Storm 3 to its lineup, along with a Curve 3 device, but other carriers are expected to pick it up as well.
