High on the heels of a leaked photo of what was said to be the BlackBerry Storm 3 smartphone from Canadian mobile phone maker Research in Motion, info on another touchscreen-enabled device from the company emerged, namely the BlackBerry Storm 9570.

According to the latest news around the Internet, the new device is expected be different from the said Storm 3 smartphone, and should become available for purchase before the end of the ongoing year.

According to a recent article on BBLeaks, we should expect for the new BlackBerry Storm 9570 to land on the market only as s refreshed Storm 2, and not as the long rumored Storm 3 smartphone from RIM.

Based on the fact that the second Storm arrived on shelves as model number 9550, it does make sense for its successor to be released as BlackBerry Storm 9570, but it is rather surprising that RIM chose to come to the market with a sequel for the 9550, and not with a brand new device.

The specifications list of Storm 9570 reportedly includes 512MB of RAM, a possible 624Mhz processor, and BlackBerry OS 6 on board.

Moreover, the new mobile phone is expected to arrive on shelves with a 5-megapixel camera on the back, and with the same form factor as the Storm 2.

One interesting feature the handset is said to pack is the SurePress technology paired with its touchscreen display, especially since the recently released Torch 9800 smartphone does not include it.

It's still uncertain whether RIM will push the new device on the market as the Storm 3 or as a mere Storm 2.5, since it is a Storm 2 sequel, but chances are that it won't be too long before specific details on this are made available.

Some of the previous rumors on the matter suggested that RIM might bring a new Storm device on shelves sometime in October, and the BlackBerry Storm 9570 might be just it.
