BlackBerry Bold 9780, the latest Bold smartphone that Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion has brought to the market during the ongoing year, is on its way to the Australian market via Vodafone, the wireless carrier has just announced.

The new device was brought on the market as the successor of the popular BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone, while packing improved hardware specs, so as to better fit the needs of the new BlackBerry 6 operating system from the company.

“Perfect for customers who love the form factor of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 but want the latest operating system with all the new advancements,” Vodafone Australia notes in a post on its blog.

The new device sports a similar form factor with its predecessor. Users would enjoy a QWERTY keyboard on a candybar form factor, along with the 2.44-inch display that can boast a 480 x 360 pixels resolution.

“BlackBerry 6 allows users to have faster, richer web browsing, a simple set up with increased personalization and easier social networking functionality with the Social Feeds App,” the wireless carrier continues.

Unfortunately, although it offers various info on the mobile phone's capabilities, the company does not provide a specific release date for it, nor details on the price tag it would sport when launched on its airwaves.

Key features of BlackBerry Bold 9780 include:

- Powered by the new BlackBerry 6 OS - Find things quicker with the Universal search function that searches everything on your smartphone at once - Take great images on the go with the 5 MP camera backed with an enhanced image sensor - Twice the RAM (512MB) of the 9700 for increased productivity
