Reports are saying Chris Brown and Lady Gaga were robbed at the AMAs 2010 of their wins
Reports are saying Chris Brown and Lady Gaga were robbed at the AMAs 2010 of their wins

First, the AMAs completely snubbed Adam Lambert, one of the best-selling artists of today, solely because of his performance of last year. Now, word is starting to spread online that the real winners were Chris Brown and Lady Gaga.

Inside sources claim the organizers of this year’s edition of the American Music Awards gave awards to Usher and Justin Bieber because of politics and not because they really deserved them.

Usher, for instance, took home the award for Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist but he wasn’t the deserving recipient of it: Chris Brown was.

The same goes for Justin Bieber as Artist of the Year: Lady Gaga was the winner but, because she couldn’t be there, organizers went for The Biebs, it has been claimed.

“Brown reportedly got the most votes for Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist, but ABC decided to give it to Usher instead either because of his absence or his last year’s domestic violence issue with ex-girlfriend Rihanna,” AceShowbiz writes.

“An insider from Neon Limelight revealed that ‘teleprompter backstage had Chris’ name on it!’ and ‘it even said he couldn’t be there to accept!’” the same report notes.

And Brown wasn’t the only one who got robbed, since Gaga’s absence reportedly cost her the biggest award of the night, that for Artist of the Year, which went to Bieber instead.

“The Mother Monster was supposed to be crowned Artist of the Year because she allegedly topped her competitors Bieber, Eminem, Ke$ha and Katy Perry,” AceShowbiz says.

As if to corroborate the story, there’s a message making the rounds on Twitter from Gaga’s manager Troy Carter to his friend Israel Hernandez, saying that the entire Gaga camp had been notified she’d win Artist of the Year.

Nevertheless, because she couldn’t be there (she’s on tour), she lost it. “They said that we won in votes. They gave it to Justin because he was there,” the message reads, as per the aforementioned e-zine.

At the 2010 American Music Awards, Justin Bieber was king of the night, taking home no less than 4 statuettes. For the complete list of winners, see here.
