The nominations for the 2010 American Music Awards have just been announced a few hours ago by singers Demi Lovato and Taio Cruz: and it’s Eminem vs. Lady Antebellum vs. Justin Bieber this year.

Though for the past couple of years, Lady Gaga has been a predominant presence both in awards nominations and wins, as E! Online notes, this had to happen someday: she gets just 2 nods for the AMAs.

The clear favorites are Eminem and duo Lady Antebellum, with 5 nominations each, while teen sensation Justin Bieber follows suit with 4, and Katy Perry, B.o.B., Usher and Ke$ha score 3 each.

Em and The Biebs are neck and neck both in the Artist of the Year category and in Favorite Male Artist in the Pop or Rock genre.

In fact, most of Bieber’s 4 nominations pit him against Eminem, in which E! calls quite an “unfair fight,” without mentioning who may be receiving the unfair advantage.

“Also making the cut on this year’s roster of talent: Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, the Black Eyed Peas, Brad Paisley, Drake, Chris Brown, Rihanna (here’s hoping the seat arrangers don’t try and get controversial), Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, and, inevitably, Twilight, as the Eclipse soundtrack also sparkled its way into the nominations,” E! says.

As fans must know, as with every other AMA show, the nominees were selected based on criteria like chart ratings for sales, and Internet and radio play.

Now that the nominees have been announced, fans have more than plenty of time to vote for their favorite artist or bad.

The American Music Awards will take place on November 21 at the Nokia Theater, and will air live on ABC.

Performers so far include Usher, Pink and Bon Jovi, but more are expected to be added to the lineup in the days to come.
