14 DAY TRIAL // When it comes to radio stations, Screamer Radio is definitely the choice to go with. It provides a ton of streams all over the world and asks for nothing in return. Actually the slew of items collected from around the globe is what makes it worthy of your attention. The list of presets extends in four main menus organized by Genre, Network, Region and Language, each with at least eight sub-menus filled with radio streams.
This software, too, can be run from a portable device because all of its settings are saved in its own folder. So you can take it with you wherever you go and listen to your favorite radio station without leaving any trace on the system you run it on.
As a respectable radio manager, Screamer Radio allows you to rake the favorite stations in a single folder so that you do not have to look for them high and low in the preset list. Also, if you have a stream that is not present among the presets, you can play the URL and add it to the favorites with no trouble at all.
But there is more to Screamer Radio than just an avalanche of radio streams, as additional features permit stereo separation and audio effects like reverse stereo. However, the star feature of the program is its ability to record from any radio station it can play and automatically encode the file as MP3 in a user-designated folder. And if you want to tinker more with this, the Preferences' Encoding tab offers the possibility to choose your bitrate, enable continuous encoding or encode OGG Vorbis as MP3.
For advanced users only, the application lets you modify the list of presets to your own needs, but in this case you should skip updating the presets as it would ruin all your editing efforts.
Although the small interface shelters all the options, you can handle the application without appealing to its GUI. You can access absolutely any of its options and functions directly from the system tray icon.
