About a year ago, we were waiting for Research In Motion to announce officially the release of its BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone, and now we're getting through the same process with the Blackberry Bold 9780, supposedly the successor of Bold 9700.

Following a series of leaked specs and photos with the handset, complemented by some video previews with it, an in-depth tour of BlackBerry Bold 9780 has just emerged into the wild.

Available courtesy of Techno Buffalo, the video tour is available at the bottom of this article, accompanied by another preview of the device, coming from Vietnamese site mainguyen.vn.

According to Techno Buffalo, the upcoming mobile phone should arrive on shelves with a 624 MHz processor on board, paired with 512 MB of RAM.

The upcoming smartphone should also include a 2.44-inch HVGA+ display (480 x 360 pixels) and a QWERTY keyboard on the front, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto-focus and LED flash.

On the connectivity side, the news site reports Bluetooth 2.1 and support for AT&T 3G Bands, but more should be included in the equation when the handset it launched on the market.

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 runs under the BlackBerry 6 OS, and packs the new Webkit browser that RIM has brought to display when Torch 9800 was launched.

It seems that the new mobile operating system performs pretty well even on mobile phones without a touchscreen display, and that the keyboard is able to offer a great experience to users.

However, the new Webkit browser does not seem to perform as well as expected, though it should be mentioned that neither the software or the hardware in the video is not final.

All in all, the new BlackBerry Bold 9780 is expected to prove a great option for enthusiasts, though it still remains to be seen when would RIM push it out to shelves. Info on the handset's availability and pricing lack as well.
