Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless announced today that it added new features to its V CAST Video service, including a premium subscription movie service from Crackle, a multi-platform video entertainment network from Sony Pictures Television.

According to the wireless carrier, the new service is available on its 3G network in the United States, offering Verizon Wireless customers access to a great lineup of movies hits.

Among the titles available for the carrier's users, we can count “Cable Guy,” “Finding Graceland,” “Blind Date,” “The China Syndrome,” “Easy Rider,” “Gattaca,” “La Bamba,” and more, all of which can be watched directly from mobile phones.

“We’re excited to bring Crackle’s selection of great movies to Verizon Wireless,” said Eric Berger, senior vice president, digital networks, Sony Pictures Television.

“Together, we are enhancing the mobile entertainment experience for Verizon Wireless customers with highly engaging full-length features.”

Crackle Movies’ content on V CAST Video includes various genres, such as comedy, action, drama, or sci-fi, the wireless carrier added.

A number of over 19 movies are available at launch, with a refresh of two movies per week, which means that users should enjoy access to more than 25 different movies per month.

“This new option for V CAST Video customers will let them watch movies on demand on their phones. Crackle Movies’ catalog rounds out the choices for our customers,” said Terry Denson, vice president of content acquisition and strategy at Verizon.

Crackle Movies are available on V CAST-capable devices in the Media Center/Get It Now section under V CAST Video/Pop Culture/Crackle Movies.

BlackBerry smartphone users should head over to CAST Video/Pop Culture/Crackle Movies to access them, while Android owners should look for the V CAST Video app in Android Market.

“Customers can also access other premium Crackle content, including Crackle Originals, a highly acclaimed Web series ranging from comedy to suspense, and Minisodes, shorter versions of classic television shows, under the “Cutting Edge” category,” the carrier announced.

People interested in Crackle Movies premium subscriptions can purchase them for $5.99 per month, on top of the $10 monthly subscription required for the V CAST Video on Demand. More info can be found here.
