Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is getting ready for the back to school period with a series of new promotions for students and families. According to the company, students and families should be able to find a new device to fit their needs from an extensive offering, regardless their lifestyle or study habits.

Big Red's Back to School deals, we can count: - Students on a budget can look at Verizon Wireless’ “Great Deals under $20.” Customers can select from QWERTY phones such as the LG Cosmos or Samsung Reality. Students who want to stay connected and up to date with their homework can select the HP Mini 210-1076NR netbook with Mobile Broadband. - Shop for the family with Verizon Wireless’ “Buy One Get Any Device Free” promotion. Students who want to stay organized, surf the Web and have access to e-mail can select a BlackBerry Curve 8530, BlackBerry Storm2 or the global-ready BlackBerry Bold 9650 for studying abroad and get another device of equal or lesser value free after rebate. Each smartphone requires a voice plan with a data package of $29.99 or higher.

In addition to these offerings, Verizon's customers can benefit from the enhanced experience its Android-based devices can offer, including the new DROID X by Motorola, the DROID Incredible by HTC, LG Ally, Motorola DEVOUR or DROID by Motorola. The latest device included into the carrier's lineup comes with a virtual keyboard with Swype technology, while being able to provide connectivity to up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices via its 3G Mobile HotSpot capabilities.

But handsets are not all that customers can get, the carrier states. Users can also benefit from features available via various mobile applications, including Skype mobile, which can be used on BlackBerry and Android smartphones, V CAST Video, or Social Beat for fast connectivity to social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

According to the company, all back to school promotional prices are available with a new two-year customer agreement.
