Hot on the heels of the webOS 1.3.5.1 update for the North American users of a Palm Pre or Palm Pixi comes another software solution from the Sunnyvale-based mobile phone maker Palm, webOS 1.3.5.2, this time around for the European users of a Pre smartphone. A quick look at the release notes for the new platform version for the Palm Pre shows that it includes about the same OS enhancements as webOS 1.3.5, except for a few additional fixes and improvements in comparison to the previous flavor.

The main improvement that webOS 1.3.5.2 brings forth is related to the App Catalog, which now can offer an enhanced user experience when it comes to downloading applications. Users can enjoy new app downloading features, including the possibility to manually pause, resume, and cancel downloads, background downloads, better search results, not to mention the possibility to use all the available storage space on the handset for downloading applications.

The release notes for the new OS flavor also show: - When the user has network time zone enabled, a city and country are no longer displayed. - This release fixes an issue in which the Calendar app displayed no events for any account after a user synchronized Calendar with an Exchange account - A user can perform a full erase by pressing and holding Sym + the orange/Option key + power for 10 seconds. - A user can now edit forwarded text for all email account types - The default email signature no longer includes the macron over the “e” in “Pre,” so that the product name shows correctly on a recipient’s phone. - The Phone app offers better handling of prepaid SIM cards.

Other changes the new software solution brings along include faster switch between days in calendar, new email account features, improved battery life, the possibility to download new OS updates over a 2G (1xRTT, GPRS, EDGE) data connection, support for animated GIFs in the browser, a fix for playing .3g2 files, and more. A security fix to the dev portal is also included in the new OS flavor, and those interested in learning all about the changes it comes along with should head to Palm's website here.
