Sunnyvale-based mobile phone maker Palm released only a few days ago the latest firmware update for its Palm Pre handset, the webOS 1.3.5, and now the company also made available for download the SDK for the new flavor, namely Mojo SDK v1.3.5 Build 368. The new version of the SDK comes around with a series of fixes and enhancements, while also including an updated framework (revision 200.72), new tools, improvements in APIs, and new documentation.

Some of the fixes and enhancements the new Mojo SDK v1.3.5 Build 368 comes with include: - Apps now installed on the media partition, allowing available space to be used for apps - If your app uses a hard-coded path to the app directory for any purpose, you will need to update it - You should use Mojo.appPath to compose paths to resources within your app directory, rather than hard-coding paths - Fixed a bug that was causing playback of some audio files to be clipped at the end - Upgraded sqlite to version 3.6.20 to address certain reproducible crashes in sqlite - Updated the app sandbox file-access whitelist: apps can again display contact photos returned by the People Picker widget - Fixed an issue affecting the ImageView widget: the widget can again display local images regardless of whether the ???noextractfs??? parameter is set to true - Additional garbage-collection performance tuning.

At the same time, the SDK comes with a new “option to palm-log to control the system logging level on device,” and the company notes that, in case the Palm Emulator is launched when an unsupported version of VirtualBox is installed, an error message will be displayed. The supported versions are 3.0.0 to 3.0.12. An issue with launching the Palm Emulator has been also resolved, Palm notes, adding that Windows XP 64-bit is no longer supported with this release.

We've already noted a few of the novelties the webOS 1.3.5 flavor of Palm's new operating system brings to the table, and those interested in learning more about the platform should head here for the details.
