14 DAY TRIAL // Both Pixel and Pixel XL are now eligible for the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, as confirmed by Google earlier. However, Verizon has an update of its own for both devices, which brings a few more improvements and bug fixes.
Although the Big Red does not mention anything about Android 7.1.1 Nougat, Google announced that the update is available for all Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones starting today.
Still, since this OTA update will be rolled out in stages it may take several weeks until it reaches all compatible devices.

First of all, the update fixes a couple of issues that were reported by users, like the fact that they couldn't retrieve their Visual Voicemail messages and were getting an error 9999 in some areas.
Furthermore, Google also addresses an issue with the Voicemail icon notification, which was not displaying when a new voicemail message was received.
From time to time, Pixel/Pixel XL devices stopped playing voicemail messages over Bluetooth after the screen timed out. This bug should be fixed by the latest update, too.
Another issue that would make the phone occasionally go to blue screen during an inbound call has been patched as well. The email font is now slightly bigger, as many customers complained that it was smaller than it should be.
The last issue addressed by the update concerns the text that was garbled on the call screen/dialer, and corrupted on the Recent Calls and contact list screens. After the update, you should not have problems of this kind any longer.
A new option that allows users to choose Cellular or Wi-Fi as their preferred way of calling while roaming internationally has been included too. Also, Verizon has confirmed that the update contains the latest Android security patches.
