In some countries, the update will arrive much later

Bad news for many Galaxy S7 edge owners out there, as Samsung won't be releasing the long-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat in all regions by the end of the first quarter. Although Samsung has already started the rollout of the update to both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, Android 7.0 Nougat will arrive much later in some regions.

The information has been recently confirmed by a Samsung rep who has said that Android 7.0 Nougat won't arrive on the Galaxy S7 edge in Singapore until April or even June. The Galaxy S7 might be in the same situation, even if it hasn't been confirmed yet.

It's also worth noting that Singapore might not be the only country where Android 7.0 Nougat for Galaxy S7 edge will arrive sometime at the end of the first half of the year.

The reason behind this delay is unknown, but Samsung, as well as other major handset makers like Motorola, Sony, HTC and Asus have had issues tailoring Android 7.0 Nougat for their smartphones.

All these companies had to halt the rollout of the Android 7.0 Nougat update to some of their devices due to serious issues. Although in many cases the rollout has been resumed, it casts a shadow of doubt on how these companies are handling the software development.

Unfortunately, Samsung hasn't been doing a good job keeping up with all the updates released by Google. Many flagship smartphones launched in the last couple of years haven't yet received some of the newest security patches that Google launches every month.

It's sad to see that Samsung released Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, but many owners won't be getting it many months after its launch.

If the pattern applies to other Samsung smartphones confirmed to receive the update, some users will be able to upgrade their devices in Q3 2017 or nearly the end of the year.
