Official build running on Samsung Galaxy Note 5

Samsung has yet to announce which devices will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates and when, but we know for sure that all Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Note smartphones launched this year will be upgraded to the latest version of the OS.

We reported a few days ago on a leaked document that contained some of the devices that should receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, but the information hasn't been confirmed by Samsung yet.

However, a lucky Galaxy Note 5 owner received Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on his device probably by mistake. The T-Mobile version of Galaxy Note 5 downloaded the OTA update and installed it on the smartphone.

The owner was kind enough to provide us with some screenshots showing the new TouchWiz UI that comes embedded into Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

As many of you will be able to notice, Samsung has done quite a lot of tweaking to its proprietary user interface.

Unfortunately, upon testing the phone's performance in various benchmarks, we've noticed that Samsung Galaxy Note 5 runs a little bit more slowly after being upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

What's interesting is that this doesn't seem to be the final version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Samsung Galaxy Note 5, so some things might change for the better until the final release comes later in December (probably).

Overall, TouchWiz UI has been cleaned up with new animations, while the settings have been sorted, and some apps included in Marshmallow have received a slight redesign.

Even though benchmarks show lower results, the overall performance of the smartphone has gone up. The phablet feels more responsive and smoother thanks to the new animations that we mentioned earlier.

Also, there are no memory management issues present in this build. One thing that did not seem to work properly is Doze mode, but since this an experimental build, Samsung still has time to fix it.
