Even though Samsung is expected to release its Galaxy Note 7 in less than a month, the company continues to unveil low- and mid-range smartphones. The latest is Galaxy Wide, which has been introduced in South Korea and will be up for purchase in the next few weeks.

Samsung has just released a new smartphone, the Galaxy Wide. The device comes with some really unimpressive specs, and it seems to be a variant of last year's Galaxy On7, created especially for the South Korean market. Specs of the two devices are quite similar, although the Galaxy On7 was released last year.

Galaxy Wide even carries the model number SM-G600S, the same as that for the Galaxy On7, except for the “S” letter on the back. The Galaxy Wide could be a variant optimized for carrier bands in Samsung's home country, according to SamMobile.

Galaxy Wide has a 3,000mAh battery and a 13MP rear camera

Galaxy Wide comes with a 5.5-inch HD display and just 2GB of RAM. The smartphone has 16Gb of internal memory and comes with a 3,000mAh removable battery. It also incorporates a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU and a 13MP rear camera with 5MP on the front.

The phone runs the latest version of Android Marshmallow and comes with Samsung's TouchWiz UI on top. In addition, it has a T-DMB chip that supports digital terrestrial broadcasting.

As for the price tag, Samsung's Galaxy Wide is sold for the equivalent of $276 and is expected to reach shelves in a few weeks.

Samsung's Galaxy On7 will be revamped this year and receive more powerful specs. Rumors say that the device could come with a 4.8-inch display with 1080p resolution and 3GB of RAM. It could also have 16GB of internal storage, a 13MP rear camera, and an 8MP camera on the front. The device will most likely debut in mid-August.
