14 DAY TRIAL // It looks like the Galaxy On saga is finally over, as Samsung has taken the wraps off two mid-range Android smartphones that are already available for purchase, the Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7.
Both devices can be bought in India exclusively via Flipkart. Samsung Galaxy On5 has been priced at Rs 8,990 ($135), while the Galaxy On7 can be had for Rs 10,990 ($165 / €155) outright.
Potential customers should also know that the Galaxy On5 is available in both black and gold color options, while the Galaxy On7 can be purchased in either white or gold colors.
Moving on to specs, the cheapest of the two, Samsung Galaxy On5 sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.
As expected, the smartphone is equipped with Samsung's 1.3GHz quad-core Exynos 3475 processor, which is complemented by a Mali-T720 graphics processing unit and 1.5GB of RAM.
It comes with only 8GB of storage, but users can further expand storage up to 128GB via microSD card slot. On the back, there's an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera.
Two mid-range smartphones aimed at emerging markets
The Galaxy On5 features 4G LTE and dual-SIM support and it's powered by a 2,600 mAh battery, which features Ultra Data Saving mode and 4G Download Booster.
On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy On7 flaunts a larger 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, but with similar HD (720p) resolution.
The smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB.
The Galaxy On7 features a better 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, along with a 5-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls.
Just like the Galaxy On5, it comes with 4G LTE and dual-SIM support, but it drains energy from a high-capacity 3,000 mAh battery.
Last but not least, both Samsung Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7 come preloaded with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.
