Microsoft now expected to release new build next week

Microsoft has just rolled out Windows 10 Mobile build 10149 for fast ring users, so the company is fully focused on collecting feedback for the smartphone platform these days, which means that this week, we won’t get any new PC build as part of the Windows Insider program.

The company was expected to provide insiders with a new PC build sometimes this week, but it turns out that we need to wait a little bit longer, as Redmond is still evaluating candidates and testing several builds to determine which one is stable enough to be released to users.

Basically, everyone expected to get a new PC build because the company rolled out Windows 10 Mobile build 10080 last week, so it was believed that the PC would get some love sometime these days. But given the fact that Windows 10 Mobile build 10149 is now live, the company is now trying to collect feedback on this new release and only then roll out another PC version.

Plus, Microsoft doesn’t usually release new builds on Friday or during weekends, so the next PC version is expected sometime next week.

“Several builds likely till RTM”

The latest Windows 10 PC build was rolled out on May 29, so no less than 27 days have passed since insiders received an official update, but in the meantime, a couple of other builds have leaked too.

Interestingly, Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, previously said that several builds are very likely to be released until RTM comes out, so July might be a very busy month for insiders. The company is now exclusively focused on fixing bugs and addressing performance issues, so fewer new features would be part of the upcoming builds.

Obviously, no release date can be provided for these early versions of Windows 10, but there’s no doubt that the sooner they come, the better for both users and the company because there’s more time to fix potential bugs before the big release on July 29.
