Apple released today the fifth maintenance update to the macOS High Sierra 10.13 operating system series, version 10.13.5, with an extra layer of security and bug fixes.

Coming approximately one month after the April 24 release of macOS High Sierra 10.13.4, and one day after the iOS 11.4, tvOS 11.4, and watchOS 4.3.1 software updates, the macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 update continues to improve the security, compatibility, and stability of your Mac computers.

One of the highlights of the macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 software update is the implementation of the Mesaages in iCloud feature that Apple also added in the iOS 11.4 release to allow users to store their iMessages on their iCloud accounts for easy sync between their iPhone, iPad and Mac devices.

Of course, there are numerous security fixes included in this update, fixing various vulnerabilities across several components like Accessibility Framework, AMD, ATS, Bluetooth, Firmware, FontParser, Grand Central Dispatch, Graphics Drivers, Hypervisor, iBooks, Intel Graphics Driver, and others.

macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 can be installed on MacBook Late 2009 or newer, MacBook Air Late 2010 or newer, MacBook Pro Mid 2010 or newer, Mac mini Mid 2010 or newer, iMac Late 2010 or newer, iMac Pro 2017, and Mac Pro Mid 2010 or newer computers running a release of the macOS High Sierra 10.13 operating system.

All users are urged to update their systems immediately

macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 introduced a new 64-bit testing mode for application developers to test their software for 64-bit compatibility as Apple will soon deprecate 32-bit support on future releases of macOS, most probably starting with the next major version, macOS 10.14, which Apple may unveil next month during WWDC 2018.

The 32-bit deprecation continues in macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 as Apple urges application developers to test their software for 64-bit compatibility. But, for end users, macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 is yet another security and stability update that's recommended for everyone as it improves the reliability of macOS.
