Apple released today the watchOS 4.3.1 software update for all Apple Watch devices with an extra layer of security and bug fixes, as well as various performance improvements.

After releasing the iOS 11.4 for supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices, tvOS 11.4 for 4th generation Apple TV and Apple TV 4K devices, as well as the Xcode 9.4 IDE, Apple also released the watchOS 4.3.1 software update with a handful of bug fixes to improve your overall watchOS experience on your Apple Watch.

The most prominent change brought by the watchOS 4.3.1 software update appears to be a fix for an issue that could have caused the Apple Watch to remain stuck at the Apple logo when starting up the device. The problem was reported by some users and it would appear only sometimes during the watchOS startup.

watchOS 4.3.1 also brings a warning that notifies users when launching apps designed for watchOS 1 that they may not be compatible with future versions of watchOS as Apple plans to deprecate older apps from its watchOS ecosystem. Various security updates are also present in this release.

All Apple Watch wearers should update to watchOS 4.3.1 right now

The watchOS 4.3.1 (15T567) software update is now available for the 1st generation Apple Watch, Apple Watch Series 2, Apple Watch Series 1, and Apple Watch Series 3 devices. To update to this release, wearers must use the Apple Watch app on their iPhone devices, go to the General section and access Software Update.

The watchOS 4.3.1 software update will then be automatically downloaded to your Apple Watch, which must be charged at least 50 percent and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the iPhone device from where the update is downloaded. Also, the Apple Watch must be attached to its charger during the entire installation process.
