Huawei announced the mid-range Nova and Nova Plus roughly eight months ago and it seems that the Chinese company is now ready to release their successors. A leaked teaser reveals that Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus will debut on May 26, in line with previous reports from the company’s home country.

The poster revealing the May 26 launch date was spotted in China, but it doesn’t specifically mention the Nova 2 Plus. Instead, the teaser says Huawei will launch the Nova 2 series on May 26 and features a slogan that promotes the selfie snapper and the phone’s overall performance.

Huawei Nova 2 is expected to come with a 20MP front camera, which will be the main selling point for the successor of last year’s Nova. The original Nova came with an 8MP selfie snapper, which means that this year’s model will surely make a giant leap in the camera department.

Dual-camera setup on both Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus

Nova 2 is also said to feature a dual-camera setup on the back with 12MP lens, compared to the 12MP single lens on the previous model. Nova 2 Plus will also have a dual-camera setup on the rear and a display of 5.5 inches, compared to the 5.1-inch screen rumored on Nova 2.

Moreover, the smartphones will run Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 platform, the chipset that was announced earlier this week. RAM capacity is said to reach 4GB for Nova 2, while the smartphone will most likely draw power from a 3,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.

Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus will run Android Nougat out of the box with Huawei’s EMUI interface on top. Both devices will be wrapped in a metal body and feature a design slightly different to last year’s models. Huawei integrated the antenna lines at the top and bottom of Nova 2, while the fingerprint sensor retained its position from last year’s models and is featured on the back of the smartphones.
