Three UK has just announced that it will carry the latest Apple tablet, the iPad 2, which will be available in the upcoming weeks.

While the carrier didn't mention a certain release date in the official announcement, a Three UK leaflet suggests that the iPad 2 might be available starting March 25th.

The short press statement was posted on the carrier's official blog but no additional details have been shared at the moment:

Three UK today announced it will offer iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G and also dedicated data plans for iPad 2 in the coming weeks. iPad 2 is the next generation of Apple’s magical device for browsing the web, reading and sending email, enjoying photos, watching videos, listening to music, playing games, reading ebooks and much more.”

Apple has previously announced that the iPad 2 will be available in additional countries beside the USA starting March 25, which suggests that Three UK will be able to make the device available on the same date.

Countries that are expected to receive the iPad 2 on that date include: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

The new iPad 2 improves on the original especially when it comes to speed, weight and thickness.

One of the major improvements compared to the original iPad is the 900 MHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, which is complemented by a PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU.

In addition, the tablet is thinner, at only 8.8 mm, compared to its predecessor's 13.4 mm and much lighter at 607g (battery included) compared to the iPad 1's 730 g.

The iPad 2 runs on the iOS 4 mobile platform and has retained the same exceptional rating of up to 10 hours of battery life of its predecessor.
