One of the handsets that should have already made an appearance on the airwaves of mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is the HTC ThunderBolt, though it is yet unavailable for purchase, and might not be at least for a few days either.

According to some of the latest rumors on the matter, the main reason for this would be that Verizon is waiting for the iPad 2's release, and that it aims at having the handset on shelves after that.

A photo that emerged over at Droid-life is the proof of that, showing that, after the release of Motorola XOOM, the launch of iPad 2 would be the next big thing at Verizon.

When unveiling the new iPad 2 last week, Apple announced that it plans on making it available for purchase in the United States starting with March 11th.

This means that the ThunderBolt won't be present on shelves until this Friday either, though more info on the matter is not available for the time being.

The delay of this 4G LTE-capable Android-based smartphone was not necessarily determined by iPad 2's release, but the wireless carrier has yet to offer specific info on what caused the push back.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the HTC ThunderBolt was unveiled in early January during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and that it was expected to be the first 4G LTE-capable device at the carrier.

Some of the earliest rumors on its availability suggested that Verizon would put it on sale sometime in mid-February, but that didn't happen, obviously.

Recent reports suggested that Big Red would plan on making the move either today or on March 10th, but it seems that we're about to find that they would prove false too.

Without a specific release date attached to it, the ThunderBolt might arrive any day following iPad 2's launch, but we'll keep our fingers crossed for that to happen sooner rather than later.
