iBuyPower, a well-renowned boutique gaming PC builder, has just announced the availability of the Gamer Power 579Q6 and Gamer Extreme 520SLC, AMD Phenom II X6 powered desktops that can be purchased from Newegg and Tiger Direct, respectively.

Starting with the Newegg system, the Gamer Power 579Q6, this is built around an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor, which has a base clock of 3.2GHz and a maximum Turbo frequency of 3.6GHz.

The powerful six-core CPU is seconded by a Radeon HD 6850 graphics card, 4GB of DDR3 memory running at 1333MHz as well as by a 1.5TB hard drive.

All of these are installed together with a DVD writer and a 700W power supply inside a XION ECHO Gaming Tower chassis to form a well-balanced gaming system.

However, the same thing can be said about its sibling, the Gamer Extreme 520SLC that is available at Tiger Direct, as iBuyPower has for some strange reason decided to pair the even more powerful AMD Phenom II X6 1100T CPU with a low-end Nvidia GeForce GT 520 graphics card.

Paired with 8GB of system memory, the fast 3.3GHz liquid cooled AMD processor should run circles around the GeForce GT 520, which by no means can be called a gaming GPU.

The rest of the desktops configuration is common with that of the Gamer Power 579Q6, but this time the XION chassis has been swapped with an NZXT Gamma case.

“Our customers demand powerful systems that can run all the latest titles at a reasonable price,” said Darren Su, vice president of iBuyPower.

“The newest AMD 6 core processors allow us to provide that power in an affordable package,” concluded the company's rep.

The iBuyPower Gamer Power 579Q6 has a base price of $799.99, while its AMD Phenom II X6 sibling, the Gamer Extreme 520SLC, starts at $789.99. Customers with more specific gaming needs can configure a fully customizable gaming PC on the company's website.
