Ripple Korea has just announced at the end of last week a new small form factor system known as the Ripple Look that is based on an AMD Fusion accelerated processing unit and is designed to be installed inside crowded entertainment centers and desktops.

Ripple's latest creation measures only 235x215x69mm in size and weighs a mere 400g, but inside the Korean company has managed to fit a mainboard that includes AMD's E-350 APU.

This is the fastest Brazos chip that is available from AMD at this time and it sports dual Bobcat x86 processing cores clocked at 1.6GHz and Radeon HD 6310 integrated graphics in order to deliver exceptional mutimedia capabilities.

What this means is the little 18W chip that is installed in the Ripple Look is fully capable of decoding Blu-ray video as well as other Full HD movie formats, no matter the bitrate used for their encoding.

These can be stored on the included 320GB hard disk drive, which is housed inside the case together with 2GB of DDR3 PC10600 system memory.

In the back of the Ripple Look, outside of the usual Ethernet and audio jacks, users will also find HDMI and D-Sub video outputs, for connecting the SFF to an HDTV or monitor.

No information regarding the release date of this system, or its availability outside of Korea, was provided. However, the Ripple Look is expected to cost about $300 US, once it's released.

We also don't know if Ripple Korea plans to update this machine to feature the upcoming AMD E-450 accelerated processing unit.

However, if they decide to do this and also introduce a version with a built-in Blu-ray optical drive, than the Ripple Look could become a really nice alternative for (Korean) users seeking a low-power HTPC box. (via Akihabara News)
