Origin PC, a well-renowned boutique system builder, has announced the availability of a new series of small form factor desktops that go by the name of Chronos and can be configured with Intel's second-generation Core processors and AMD or Nvidia discrete graphics.

Users can choose to build their Chronos inside one of the four chassis available in Origin PC's online configurator, the NZXT Vulcan, the Lian Li PC-V354, the Silverstone SG07 or the Silverstone FT03.

The available hardware options will vary depending on the case chosen, as larger cases like the NZXT Vulcan can accommodate up to two dual slot graphics cards, while the compact Silverstone SG07 chassis can only include one such card.

No matter what case you'll end up choosing, the Chronos can be configured with Sandy Bridge processors ranging from the Core i3-2100 to the Core i7-2600K.

The Core i5-2500K is also available as an option and both of these K-series Intel CPUs can be overclocked to 4GHz by Origin PC if the customer wishes.

The Intel CPUs can be paired with as much as 8GB of DDR3 RAM and Origin also offers various graphics card options ranging from the GTX 550 Ti or the Radeon HD 6850 to the Nvidia GTX 590 or Radeon HD 6990 in both single and dual-GPU configurations.

Also depending on the case, Chronos desktops can feature between one and four storage drives and Origin PC's online configurator includes both SSDs and HDDs from Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Samsung, Western Digital or Seagate.

The most powerful power supply unit available is built by Silverstone and can provide up to 1.5kW of power.

The small form factor Chronos systems are available right now for purchase from Origin's website and pricing starts at $896. (via TCMagazine)
