Origin PC has just announced the availability of its high-performance EON17-S gaming laptops that feature Nvidia GeForce GTX discrete graphics as well as second-generation Intel Core processors that are factory overclocked up to 4.5GHz.

The EON17-S is the most powerful Origin laptop available with mobile processors and is built using updated B3 stepping Cougar Point motherboards.

The laptops can be fully customized on Origin's website, where users can change the paint finish of the laptop as well as the hardware that best fits their gaming needs and budget.

No less that seven different CPU options are available, including a factory overclocked Core i7-2920XM that runs 4.5GHz with Turbo Boost enabled, and the EON17-S can also be configured to feature a maximum of 32GB of DDR3 memory.

Graphics is handled by a 1.5GB GeForce GTX 460M or a 2GB GeForce GTX 485M and the EON17-S  gaming notebook also sports dual 2.5-inch drive bays that can be run in a RAID 0 or 1 setup.

Other features include support for a Blu-ray burner, 802.11n & Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, TV tuner support and a 2MP webcam.

On the sides of the EON17-S users will find all the standard ports and connectors, but also HDMI and DVI video outputs, a pair of USB 3.0 ports, an eSATA port and S/PDIF audio out.

The 17.3-inch screen supports a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and features LED backlighting.

“The EON17-S laptops are remarkably portable and with 2nd generation Intel processors overclocked to 4.5GHz, they are the fastest Origin laptops ever built on an Intel mobile platform” said Kevin Wasielewski, Origin CEO and co-founder.

Pricing starts at $1,759 for the basic configuration that features a Core i5-2520 CPU, 2GB of system memory, a GeForce GTX 460M GPU and a 250GB 7200rpm SATA hard drive.

Opting for an GTX 485M will set you back another $495, while the 4.5GHz overclocked Core i7-2920XM is listed as an $1,144 upgrade.
