Huawei plans to enter the US market with at least one high-end smartphone, the Mate 8. Announced in early December, the phablet is one of the most powerful handsets launched by Huawei to date.

It would be very important for Huawei to bring the Mate 8 in the United States before Samsung launches the Galaxy S7 in mid-March.

Although the smartphones target a different type of customers, many would be inclined to favor Samsung's smaller handset for Huawei's massive phablet.

Well, it looks like Android fans have reasons to be pleased since Huawei Mate 8 has just been approved by FCC (Federal Communications Commission).

Moving on to specs, Huawei Mate 8 has been confirmed to pack the company's homebrew Kirin 950 chipset, which packs a 2.3GHz octa-core processor, and a Mali-T880 MP4 graphics processing unit.

A powerful smartphone that might be popular in the US if priced aggressively

Huawei announced that the Mate 8 would be available in two versions: 32GB storage and 3GB RAM, as well as 64GB or 128GB and 4GB RAM.

All models will boast a huge 6-inch IPS-NEO LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 4 coating.

At the back, Huawei Mate 8 features an impressive 16-megapixel photo snapper with phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, OIS (optical image stabilization) and full HD (1080p) video recording.

There's also an 8-megapixel in the front that can capture full HD (1080p) video. Huawei Mate 8 is powered by a massive 4,000 mAh battery that should provide up to 22 days of standby time and features fast charging technology.

In the same piece of news, Huawei is expected to bring the Honor 5X in the United States, along with the Mate 8 phablet. However, it's unclear when exactly these smartphones will be made available for purchase.
