14 DAY TRIAL // Huawei's new flagship smartphone is expected to make its debut on the market on December 9, but the Mate 8 will only be available in China for a few weeks at least.
According to a new report, Huawei's head of smartphone division, He Gang, has confirmed that his company is confident that Mate 8 will be very popular among Android fans, which is why it will produce around 1 million units per month.
Huawei Mate 8 will go on sale in China on December 9 for 2,999 yuan outright, which is about $470 or €430. That's quite a decent price for a flagship smartphone, which has been dubbed a “Galaxy Note 5 killer.”
For those unfamiliar with Mate 8, here is a quick rundown of what it has to offer regarding specs. First of all, the phablet boasts a huge 6-inch IPS-NEO LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.
The specs
The Mate 8 is one of the first to come with Huawei's Kirin 950 chipset inside that packs a 2.3GHz processor, a Mali-T880 MP4 graphics processing unit and either 3GB or 4GB of RAM.
There will be two versions of Huawei Mate 8 available on the market based on the amount of memory inside, 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM, as well as 4GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB. MicroSD card slot for memory expansion is included in all models.
More importantly, the smartphone comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box. That's something that Galaxy Note 5 users can't benefit from for the moment.
At the back, the Mate 8 features a 16-megapixel photo snapper with phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, OIS (optical image stabilization) and full HD (1080p) video recording.
For selfies, Huawei Mate 8 employs the services of a secondary 8-megapixel camera in the front, which can also capture full HD (1080p) video.
The “Galaxy Note 5 killer” offers dual-SIM and 4G LTE support. Also, it comes with fingerprint sensor positioned on the back side.
The Mate 8 is powered by a high-capacity 4,000 mAh battery that features fast charging technology and should provide up to 22 days of standby time.
