For her, fear tastes like success and she takes pizza with extra tomato sauce, she reveals in email exchange

Beyonce is one of the biggest stars in the world and, the most interesting part is, she hardly has to move a finger to promote herself. The pop star hasn’t done a face-to-face interview for a print publication since 2013 and it seems this is a habit she intends to keep.

In 2015, Queen Bey landed the much-coveted September cover of Vogue magazine, but the accompanying piece didn’t include an interview, just an artsy video of Bey being - what else? - artsy. Now, a rather obscure music publication named Beat can boast of having snagged a Beyonce interview - via email, but still, it’s more than what Vogue got.

Beyonce speaks, sort of

So this is Beyonce’s first print interview in a very long time, either in person or conducted via email. For some reason, she would rather be seen than heard, a strategy that would probably not work for anyone else but does for her.

The cover of Beat, which you will find in the gallery below, popped up online last week, promoted by the publication with the tagline, “Beyonce sneezed on Beat and the Beat got sicker.” It shows her wearing an American flag swimsuit, standing in a green field in front of an American flag.

Beat has now released more photos (and there are even more to come, they say!) and the “interview,” if you can call it that.

The chat is nothing short of a brief email exchange, in which Beyonce says she prefers her pizza with extra tomato sauce and jalapenos, that she would get dressed up as “Survivor”- or “Bootylicious”-era Beyonce for Halloween, and that she has come to associate the taste of fear with success.

To make this even stranger, in one photo, Beyonce is posing in another swimsuit, holding a white chicken in her arms.

What’s happening here?

As far as the media knows, Beyonce doesn’t have anything to promote right now. There’s been some talk that she might put out a new album this year, but when nothing came out of it, it was dropped altogether.

She has a collaboration with Naughty Boy out, “Runnin’ (Lose It All),” but it’s been released for some time and has already generated plenty of interest / sales for her to have to raise awareness for it.

Unless Beyonce is really, secretly gearing up for a new album release or some other type of musical project, she must be playing with the fans and the media by giving silly “interviews” like this one.
