Android 6.0 Marshmallow is only available on 1.2 percent of smartphones, but Google hopes to change that in the next couple of months.

One way is to convince OEMs to start launching mid-range and budget-friendly smartphones powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Another solution would be for more handset makers to provide updates to the new version of Android.

HTC, Motorola, LG, Huawei and Sony have already announced Marshmallow updates for some of their mid-range and high-end devices, but not many received it.

Surprisingly, LG managed to offer G4 owners the option to upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow faster than even the most ardent fans thought it would be possible.

The rollout of the upgrade started a few months ago in Europe and slowly expanded to the United States. Carriers like Sprint, US Cellular and T-Mobile have already released Android 6.0 Marshmallow for LG G4.

Verizon and AT&T remain the last carriers in the country that have yet to provide their customers with the long-awaited upgrade.

AT&T customers will be pleased to know that their favorite carrier has just kicked off the deployment of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for LG G4.

AT&T's update includes Video Calling feature

The carrier confirmed the information on its support website: “AT&T released a software update for the LG G4 (H810) on February 8, 2016. This update will be made available to customers via the Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) using a Wi-Fi connection.”

Aside from the usual new features and improvements included in Android 6.0 Marshmallow, AT&T also mentions in the changelog that the update brings Video Calling.

It's also worth mentioning that the update is about 970MB in size, so make sure that your phone is connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network for faster download speeds.

Keep in mind that the update is pushed in waves, so it will take a few days until it reaches all LG G4 devices at AT&T.
