Recently, pocket-sized video cameras have made huge strides when it comes to image quality, but things aren't so good when it comes down to sound recording, so Zoom developed the Q3HD Handy Video Recorder that can record HD video as well as HD audio.

Coming with a new user-friendly icon-based interface, the Q3HD can record Full HD 1080p video at a full 30 fps, going for a 720p resolution allowing the user to choose between 30 or 60 fps recording modes.

However, unlike most pocket sized camcorders available out there, the Q3HD will accompany its great looking video recording with an improved sound that comes thanks to the same microphone capsules used in its H4n sound recorder.

Configured in a wide 120° X/Y pattern, the microphones are able to record audio at an 24-bit/96kHz quality, the onboard level meters and mic gain switch with auto gain control helping users to further improve the recorded sound.

Going back to the video quality, Zoom has paired its redesigned larger aperture with three lighting settings allowing users to select the appropriate amount for the environment they shoot in.

Furthermore, a “Concert Lighting” setting allows the camera to capture clear, detailed videos in light-intensive environments.

All the footage is saved on memory cards, Zoom pairing the Q3HD with a 2GB SD card that can record up to 45 minutes of HD video, the camcorder accepting cards as big as 32GB.

After being recorded, the content can be watched on the camcorder's 16:9 LCD screen or displayed on a large screen HDTV via the built-in HDMI output, a USB 2.0 port being also available for downloading the content to a PC or Mac computer.

The Zoom Q3HD is now available for $299.99, an accessory package that includes a soft shell case, windscreen, AC adapter, HDMI cable, AV cable and tripod can be purchased separately for $39.99.
