Owners of Windows Phone 7-powered mobile phones have now at their disposal a new version of YouTube mobile to enjoy, with increased performance and new features.

Starting today, YouTube Mobile reportedly offers support for the Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) mobile browser that arrives in Windows Phone Mango, and is HTML5 powered.

Long story short, the YouTube application that was already available for Windows Phone devices seemed to have been broken the past few days.

Apparently, more than just one user noticed that, and questions started to rise on why the app would not send them to YouTube anymore.

Thing is that Google was actually working on enhancing the mobile portal, and now it is back online, with the aforementioned changes in tow.

These are welcomed changes, that's for sure, especially since users will also benefit from a new page appearance when arriving on YouTube.

The service comes with a new, nicer and cleaner look, and also offers support for IE9 and HTML5, which should translate into faster load times and increased overall performance.

For the time being, however, these changes will be visible only to those who own handsets already running under Mango, as this is the mobile OS flavor that comes with IE9 inside.

However, with Microsoft applying the final touches to Windows Phone Mango, it should not be too long before the new mobile platform release is made available for download on existing devices.

Some of the previous reports on the matter suggested that Mango might come as a software update on devices sometime in mid-September, but no official confirmation on this emerged until now.

However, since the first Windows Phone Mango devices are already official, it should not be too long before the update is being released too, that's for sure.

As for the new YouTube Mobile, those who use a beta or the RTM version of Windows Phone Mango will be able to enjoy its features right away, WMPoweruser notes.
