Dead Rising was one of biggest titles to appear in 2006 for the Xbox 360, largely due to the fact that it provided players with some very creative ways to get rid of zombies in an infested mall. A big twist in the gameplay was that it had a time limit, of three game days, or 6 hours of normal gameplay, when the protagonist, Frank West, would be saved.

But now, as the sequel to the game has been announced, cleverly entitled Dead Rising 2, a lot of things have changed, including the location and the main hero. From the screenshots that appeared up until now, we figured out that he might be a stuntman who will run around a Las Vegas-like city filled with the undead.

Now, thanks to Japanese magazine Famitsu, we find out that the protagonist is Chuck Greene, who will be fighting off the hordes of zombies for another 72 hours. The game, as opposed to the original, isn't developed completely by Capcom, which has partnered with the Canadian studio Blue Castle Games.

Even though his name doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, the abilities of the players will be put to the test as, according to the article, the game intends to deliver on the “6,000 characters on screen at once” promise. Here's what the game's character art lead Izmeth Siddeek has revealed: “Dead Rising 2 deals with the rendering of the greatest number of characters ever seen in a video game... Everything else needed to be subordinated to this requirement.”

While the first game impressed through its premise and the interesting options that the player was given, Dead Rising 2 definitely needs to bring a lot of new things in order to stay fresh and attract new people who want to destroy zombies through environments filled with casino-related objects. Look forward to it in the fourth quarter of this year.
