With rides and mini-games

Majesco Entertainment is announcing that a Nintendo DS version of its Wonder World Amusement Park game is in development, with the game aiming for a holiday 2008 release date.

There's also a Wii version of this title, developed by Coyote Entertainment. The game is aimed to the more casual gamer and tries to re-create the experience that one might have while going to the fun fair as they were kids. The developers say that they are offering more than 30 mini-games, all of which you can experience while on a night out in an amusement park. You can shoot at the shooting gallery, go around driving a miniature car and can even ride look-alikes of famous roller coaster rides from around the world.

As the player goes on rides and beats mini-games, he will get rewards which can range from prizes to character accessories. Some of the mini-games are only unlockable after you beat another connected mini-game, while some game modes also require unlocking. There's even a whole section of the theme park, initially kept secret from the player, and that can only be unlocked through gameplay.

The game will take full advantage of the Nintendo DS stylus control scheme and let players handle most of their in-game actions with the stylus, with minimal input from the D-pad. The complexity of the Wii version of the game will be a little reduced to accommodate the lesser hardware capabilities of the DS.

Bill Petro, vice president of internal development and studio head at Majesco, said that "Our internal team is very excited to be developing original Majesco IP for such a strong, marketable concept. Wonder World for DS is a perfect complement to the Wii version and includes additional features that take advantage of the Touch Screen play to maximize the portable fun".
