Qube's recently released engine, already adopted

Qube Software is a company who presented a pretty neat middleware for the Nintendo Wii console during the GDC San Francisco, one called Q. Game developers Asylum Entertainment loved it. So, they have decided to be the first to adopt the Q middleware and start developing a couple of Wii games as soon as possible. Also, Asylum Entertainment was already familiar with previous technologies developed by Qube Software, which means that the guys know what they're doing.

"We took a good look at technology engines for the Wii and Q is by far the best we have seen," said Simon Bailey, Asylum's Managing Director. "Qube has mastered the use of certain Wii technology features that other developers don't properly utilise. That allows Asylum to offer quality, speed to market and price advantages for our publishers."

Asylum has already released a bunch of really nice games for kids, such as Bob the Builder, Nancy Drew and Scooby Doo titles and the company will probably do what it knows best with Qube's engine. However, no details regarding the titles or possible genres were given - everything Asylum's reps kept saying was how good the Q middleware is. And we truly believe them - otherwise, they wouldn't have chosen it, right?

Coming just weeks after Q's launch, its creator, Qube CEO Servan Keondjian says Asylum's endorsement reinforces his belief in his middleware solution.

"My message has always been that Q's multi-platform compatibility, flexibility and the fact that it's completely customisable means that Q represents the future of middleware," said Keondjian. "Because of this we believe that Q is the only available solution that truly can standardize development across a whole studio."

So, if you plan to develop a Wii game or two, you know whom to contact, right? But it would be better, probably, if you went straight to the more hardcore consoles - many people are still waiting for Diablo 3, and maybe you could begin working. Or, who knows, maybe you'll be able to complete the development of Duke Nukem...
