Nintendo's core players are 'kiddies' but Capcom still has faith in the console

Except Resident Evil 4 and a handful of other titles, not many "M" rated games made it to Nintendo's Wii. While some complain about this aspect, others, parents for instance, are quite fond of the machine as it looks like a safe and harmless entertainment system.

Parents are usually faced with the difficulty of having to choose a console fit for their offspring's age. But sometimes, it's not only the console that parents have to fear but also the titles available for it and that becomes even more of a threat when they can also be downloaded. That's where Capcom is said to come in and save the day. Nintendo has a big gap to fill regarding "mature" titles for the Wii, demand for more serious games has never been greater now that the console's creators promise to win the next-gen battle, so some help from above is going to be needed.

As most Nintendo fans are Capcom fans too, it's only normal that Capcom will be working on some serious "M" rated titles for Nintendo's console, but don't misunderstand the definition of "M" rated games, they aren't necessarily very violent or sex related. Christian Svenssen, Capcom's Senior Director of Strategic Planning & Research wrote about the Wii's childish tiles and how they ought to be diminished in a forum post on the Capcom forums referring to Nintendo's machine as having a "kiddie image."

The Wii could use some titles that aren't for infants, really now, all we hear about is Mario, Wii Sports and Legend of Zelda but still, it mustn't go too far either, otherwise people won't trust the machine like they did until now. Nintendo is surely going to keep safety a priority when trying anything new or out of the ordinary so nothing radical is happening yet anyway.
