All those great vehicles and aircrafts, motion sensitive gameplay, but no single-player campaign

Even if the Tokyo Game Show in Autumn 2006 showed a pretty complete version of Warhawk, which made everyone believe that the game was nearing completion and was soon to be launched, the developers remained quiet on the progress of the game until recently, when they've announced its availability as a downloadable title via PlayStation Network. But it's not exactly going to be the game you though it would be.

Don't worry, the game is still the same sci-fi third-person shooter (mostly having aircraft engaging battles) but it's only going to be an online multiplayer title, that's no single-player campaigns, no story mode or whatever single-player mode you can think of. 1UP's Sam Kennedy's went to Salt Lake City to check out the game's progress, and revealed that Sony's game might be developed only as an online multiplayer game, available to download via PlayStation Network.

Although the game promises to have many different playable vehicles, including ground units, to allow a player in a flying craft to hover and hop out and also to give players the possibility to choose whether to fight the war in the air or on land, these options will only be available in a multiplayer mode, the only mode Warhawk will present them with.

The game also takes good advantage of the PS3 controller's motion sensing ability, allowing players to maneuver the aircraft while flying, by moving the controller rather than pressing the buttons constantly. While some will say "this sucks" at the sound of this and some won't be so disappointed, it remains to be seen what the impact of a multiplayer-only Warhawk is going to have over a longer period of time.
