Australian mobile phone users should soon have the possibility to purchase a new high-end smartphone on the local market, namely the Samsung Galaxy S II, which would be hitting the shelves in their country through all of their carriers.

The first one to have it would be Optus, which already lists the mobile phone as available for pre-order, and which would launch it on June 1st.

However, it won't be the only wireless services provider in the country to have the handset available for its customers, as Telstra and Vodafone are also gearing up to launch the mobile phone on their networks.

Telstra already confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S II would be released on its airwaves in July, and it seems that Vodafone would plan on making a similar move.

The same as for Telstra, specific info on the availability and pricing of the new device are not available for the time being, but should be unveiled as the release date approaches.

Vodafone did not make an official announcement on the release of Galaxy S II on its airwaves, but the guys over at Ausdroid note that the company confirmed said plans during a Samsung event that took place today.

Samsung also announced that Telstra and Vodafone are set to release the new device soon, and that they would be unveiling specific info on pricing closer to the actual release date of the phone.

The Galaxy S II is the company's latest Android-based flagship mobile phone. It packs a powerful 1.2GHz application processor inside, complemented by 1GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal memory.

Moreover, the handset sports a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display, along with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for 1080p HD video recording capabilities.

The specifications list of the new mobile phone also includes support for HSPA+, WiFi and Bluetooth, GPS receiver, microSD memory card slot, or Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system to power them all.
