Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless started a while ago to present to its subscribers applications that it considers worth trying on their devices, especially on those powered by Google's Android operating system, and now the company moved forth with the recommendations, highlighting a series of software solutions that would prove useful for Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus owners. Both handsets are powered by the Palm webOS platform, and can enjoy a wide range of applications, some of which can be considered more appealing than others.

[admark=1]Among the apps that Verizon brings to users' attention, we can count the 3D Plotter, a $1 solution that enables students plot graphs of two-dimensional functions in 3-D; a free Translator app which supports a number of 45 languages, or the Periodic Table, which delivers the Periodic Table of Elements either in Standard or Landscape mode for only $1.99. While these applications are meant mainly for students and teenagers, other customers segments are also taken into consideration, and the company also offers recommendations for business professionals and for moms.

AP Mobile is one of the solutions businesses might be interested in, Verizon says, “With more than 1,000 local trusted news sources, AP Mobile is the most comprehensive free news app, giving customers news, rich photo galleries and videos. Only read The New York Times? With this free app, customers can stay up to date on trends in business, politics, sports and arts and get the in-depth analysis only The New York Times can offer. Customers looking for more than just traditional news, including gossip, gadgets, sports and fan sites, can purchase NewsRoom for just $4.99. Tech-savvy customers interested in the latest smartphone news, reviews and hands-on looks at laptops, HDTVs, gaming and more can get the free Engadget app, the final word for news on gadgets and technology.”

Also for business users, the carrier highlights Top Stocks Lite and Expense Tracker. The former delivers free real-time stock market information with prices, line charts, news stories and more, while the latter helps users track their balances on a day-to-day basis, and is priced at $1.99. The Weather Channel is one app that moms might consider very useful, Verizon says, as it enables them know if an extra umbrella is needed for the soccer game, while providing local weather details, radar and satellite maps, and more.

"Shopping List is the premier program for moms to easily create and customize shopping lists. For $1.99, customers can create template lists for meals or items they frequently buy to simplify creating shopping lists. Lists have the option to include a name, enable prices, specify sales tax, and assign priority. Items have the option to include a name, price, quantity, aisle, multiple coupons, sales tax, and notes. Preloaded with a default store that has more than 600 items, customers can get started right away and can send lists via e-mail and SMS so that special loved one won’t forget the milk,” the carrier also notes. Additional details on software solutions available for Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus can be found either in the Palm App Catalog or on the handset vendor's website here.
