Starting with today, January 31st, mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is offering a series of Android-based smartphones at lower price tags than before, including a series of high-end devices, such as the Motorola DROID R2-D2, or the Samsung Fascinate.

We already had the chance to take a look at the special deal Verizon put in place for the Samsung Fascinate, a Galaxy S smartphone, which was part of the carrier's Valentine's Day promotion, and it seems that more such deals are available for the interested people.

The promotion should include a new smartphone deal every day, and is set to end the same day when the wireless carrier makes available for purchase on its network the long awaited Apple iPhone 4.

However, it seems that this is not the only mobile phone that Verizon would be offering to its users at a lower cost starting today, as the Motorola DROID R2-D2 shares the same fate.

Verizon is now selling the Star Wars-themed smartphone for only $99.99 with a new contract.

Another high-end device that can be acquired from Verizon at the same price tag today would be the HTC DROID Incredible.

Of course, the acquisition of any of these devices at the said $99.99 price tag would require the singing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier.

A series of other smartphones are also said to have enjoyed a price cut at Big Red today, and those interested in the purchase of a new smartphone from the wireless carrier should head over to its website to learn more on the matter (via BGR).

Also today, the wireless carrier put in place a new policy regarding the mail-in rebates for some of its devices, namely those with price tags set higher than $150. The carrier removed the mail-in rebates for these devices, so that users would pay right from the start the final price for them.
