According to the latest news on the Web, a new HTC device is getting ready to show up in Verizon Wireless' lineup, namely the XV6975, which has just been approved by the Global Certification Forum (GCF). Although for the time being little is known about the new smartphone, the “XV” part in its name suggests that it will come to the mobile phone carrier, the same as other HTC devices bearing the XV naming matrix did in the past.

Moreover, the phone should come to the operator's lineup as a Windows Mobile-powered smartphone, and there are some voices over the Web that suggest this device would look very much like the newly launched HTC Touch Pro2, and that the two would actually be one and the same handset. Moreover, the new handset is reportedly a world phone, as it comes with quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and single-band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 2100 MHz.

The fact that the new Windows Mobile-based handset is a world phone is more than obvious, as Verizon features CDMA and EV-DO Rev. A technologies and the handset also comes with support for GSM and UMTS, yet the fact that this might be the HTC Touch Pro2 is questionable. The bet is actually on the Touch Diamond2, it seems, as an HTC Touch Pro2 heading towards Verizon Wireless has already been spotted in the wild.

Moreover, the model number for the HTC Touch Pro2 on Verizon is reportedly XV6875, while the one for Touch Diamond2 would be the XV6975 that surfaced with GCF. The carrier's business users will certainly like the new phone, as it will come as another world phone for them, and hopefully it will also include the 3.5mm jack that made the headlines recently. Stay tuned to learn what other capabilities the HTC XV6875 will come to Verizon with and whether it will turn out to be the Touch Pro2 or not.
