Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC announced recently that it planned to include the standard 3.5mm headphone jack in its future handsets, following the release of its latest Android-powered handset, the HTC Hero, yet no one was expecting to learn so quickly that the company put its plan into practice, and that the HTC Touch Pro2, due for release in the US and Canada in the near future, would already include the new standard port.

Even so, recent reports around the Web show that the high-end Windows Mobile-based device indeed features the 3.5mm jack that HTC's users have been longing for. According to a recent post on MobileSyrup, the upcoming CDMA flavor of the device comes with the aforementioned capability, and is on its way to Telus and Verizon.

Moreover, it seems that the Taiwan-based manufacturer has made all things by the book with the switch from the ExtUSB jack to the new 3.5mm jack. Thus, Wmpoweruser reports, “A little known feature of the HTC Touch Pro 2 related to this is that it has different volume levels between the headphone jack and the external speaker which switch automatically when the headphones are plugged in, which is a pretty nice touch, and that volume can be adjusted even when the device is suspended, indicating HTC is finally getting that we want to use our business phones for entertainment also.”

The HTC Touch Pro2 variant that should reach Telus is reportedly a World edition, which means that users will find on it both CDMA and GSM radios. While heading towards Verizon too, bringing the 3.5mm jack along with it, the mobile phone is supposedly getting ready to land on Sprint as well, as some of the latest rumors around the Internet suggest. There are no details on when the handset might become available, yet it seems that it has been spotted as the HTC 6975.

Until more details on this become available, those who would like to take a look at the 3.6-inch tilting touchscreen, the 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with video-recording capabilities, a full five-row QWERTY keyboard, the speakerphone, the Wi-Fi connectivity and, of course, the 3.5mm jack that HTC has packed inside the CDMA flavor of Touch Pro 2 should take a look at the videos below.
