Naughty Dog, the developer behind the extremely popular Uncharted series, isn't forced to include special technologies or support in its franchise by Sony, at least according to its executives.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is by far one of the biggest announcements to appear at the end of this year, as it will continue in the strong footsteps of its predecessor, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Seeing as how that title earned a huge amount of praise and many Game of the Year awards, Uncharted 3 is under a lot of pressure.

Still, even if fans are confident in Naughty Dog, hearing that the title will include support for full stereoscopic 3D made some question whether Sony is pushing the developer to use its new technologies, including 3D or the PlayStation Move, like with the upcoming Killzone 3.

That isn't the case, as the studio Co-President, Christophe Balestra, and the game's director, Justin Richmond, revealed in an interview with Edge magazine that Sony hadn't been pushing anything on them.

"Sony's never said that to us," Balestra said, when asked if the company forced them to include support for the PlayStation Move motion control peripheral or the Sixasis controller.

"They're not telling us we have to use Sixaxis or Move. They'll say it'd be nice, of course, but they're not going to go against our judgment if we say it's not the right thing to do."

Richmond added, "They're always going to ask us to put all their crazy stuff in there and see if it works, but they accept it when it doesn't."

No doubt these statements will quell the fears of fans that don't want to experience Uncharted with any new technologies like the Move.

After lots of ambiguous details and illusive concept art, the first gameplay footage and screenshots of Uncharted 3 appeared at the beginning of this week, and show what will no doubt be one of the biggest games of next year.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is set to appear on November 1, 2011, exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
