Top three unchanged

With the E3 videogame expo taking place in Los Angeles, most of the news this week is focused on the announcements coming from big videogame companies like Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Electronic Arts and Activision.

But a quick look at the charts is always interesting and the United Kingdom videogame one is right on time, showing an unchanged top three and some disappointing new entries.

The top spot has been claimed, for the second week in a row, by the THQ published UFC 2009: Undisputed, a very competent fighting game that manages to realistically simulate the feeling of getting in a ring and taking on an opponent using a variety of fighting styles.

Pokemon Platinum has managed to hold on to number two, as players scramble to collect the various creatures. EA Sports Active is at number three, showing that Electronic Arts is able to take on Nintendo on its home turf, that of the fitness games.

Guitar Hero: Metallica from Red Octane and Activision landed at number four, with its in depth look at the evolution of the heavy metal band, while inFamous, the super hero videogame released by Sony exclusively for the PlayStation 3, is at number five on its first week on sale, a good performance for an exclusive release. Wii Fit has fallen two places, going to number six, which is uncharacteristically low for it, while FIFA 09 also went down to reach number seven.

SEGA got one title in the top ten with Virtua Tennis 2009, released just in time to ride the Roland Garros hype wave, while X-Men Origins: Wolverine from Activision is using its adamantium claws to hold on to number nine. Wii Play is at number ten. Terminator Salvation, the game which tied in with the latest movie bearing the same name, sits just outside the top ten, while THQ's BIG Family Games debuted at number 14.
