U.S. Cellular has recently added a new mobile phone to its offering, namely the HTC Touch Pro, a smartphone that comes around sporting Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, as well as a touchscreen display that is coupled with the HTC TouchFLO 3D user interface. The handset will become available with the carrier in about a month or so, and it is expected to feature a price tag of $249.95 upon the signing of a two-year contract and after mail-in rebate.

Among the other goodies that the handset will bring to U.S. Cellular's users we can count a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, along with a 2.8-inch touchscreen display able to offer a 640 x 480 pixel VGA resolution and support for 64k colors, and a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper that features auto focus and flash, as well as video recording capabilities.

The specs and feature list of the smartphone does not end here, as the HTC Touch Pro also comes with Bluetooth 2.0 with stereo A2DP support, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) capabilities, 512 MB ROM / 288 MB RAM, microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, Wireless Web browsing with Internet Explorer Mobile & Opera Mobile Microsoft Office Mobile, Wireless sync to e-mail, calendar and contacts, and built-in speakerphone.

The CDMA 1X/EVDO REV A handset includes a Li-ion 1340 mAh battery that can offer up to 4.1 hours of talk time, as well as up to 5.8 days of standby time. The HTC Touch Pro measures 4.17 x 2.05 x 0.7 inches and weighs 5.3 oz.

It is great to see that smartphones have reached smaller carriers around the world, although we all know that the successor of this handset, namely the HTC Touch Pro2, is expected to be launched on the market in the near future. Although it might look like an old model, we have to admit that the HTC Touch Pro still has what it takes to stir the interest of users everywhere.
